Do I go for it??????? ABSOLUTELY YES!!!!:-)

it seems that the stars lead us to Andros on Friday morning. So please let me know whether you agree, cause I need to buy the ferry tickets by tomorrow morning.

You see, it's the 1st of May and everybody goes to the countryside and to the nearby islands! The ferry leaves 07.05, 07.20, 07.35 and 8.00. The last is already booked, so we go for the 07.35 one. The port of Rafina is around one hour drive from my home or less, depending on the traffic. Then the trip lasts two hours.

On Friday it's a free day for us. We can visit the main town, the Chora, of the island which is impressive and noble, home-town of many old ship-owner families, visit an exemplary archeological museum and the museum of modern art -point of attraction for its summer retrospective exhibitions (it's there I saw Giacometti's sculptures for the first time)- and whoever fancies a chilly experience we will go swimming!

it's a family tradition to have the first swim of the year around my birthday; so dont forget your bathing-suits! Then we can go for lunch in a totally green village (Sariza) where natural water is bottled or eat at a taverna at the beach. The mountaineering team will have already arrived there since the previous night, so we will join them on Friday evening; you will meet a couple of my old mountaineering friends there (I just heard it and I am very happy about it).

We will sleep at different beaches every night in tents and in sleeping bags (let me know whether you have your own sleeping bag or not). Of course you will need good shoes for walking, thick socks, comfortable clothes, hat, sun-cream and a back-bag. One thing I have to tell you is that once we join the trekking course on Saturday morning there is no way back before Sunday afternoon (the late ferries depart at 20.00 and 20.30).

So, you let me know whether we go for it (it's around 6-7 hours walk per day) or we return to Athens on Friday 21.00.
